Heating/Heat Pump

Always check and replace dirty filters first.

  1. Is your thermostat set on heat?
  2. Is your thermostat set up so heat comes on?
  3. If you turn your thermostat to fan, does the fan turn on and air come out?
    1. If the answer is no, check switches, breakers and fuses.
  4. Is the outside unit fan running?
  5. If the unit is running, is the unit icing?
    a. If yes, is the ice shiny or white and fluffy?
    *If shiny ice, call for service
    *If white and fluffy, run the unit for 1-2 hours and recheck. 
    Call for service if the unit does not defrost.
    b. If the unit is not running, check for switches, fuses or breakers on.
    *If the switches, fuses or breakers are on, call for service.
    *Switch to emergency heat on your thermostat.
